Dear ISPA Members,
As we find ourselves embracing the warmer weather with summer just around the corner and Christmas decorations subtly making their early appearances in storefronts, I can’t help but pause and wonder – where has the year gone? It feels like just yesterday we were outlining our New Year’s resolutions, and now, here we are, gearing up to welcome the summer festive season.
In this whirlwind of a year, we have seen growth, faced challenges, and adapted to change, both within our own lives and within ISPA. It is in the spirit of embracing these changes that I invite you all to connect, contribute, and continue our journey of professional enhancement.
AGM November 30, 2023. Get Involved And Make A Difference
One such opportunity for active participation is our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 30. This is not only a chance to reflect on our achievements but also a forum for your voice to be heard and for new leaders to emerge. For those of you feeling a call towards a leadership role or committee involvement, remember that the strength of our association lies in the diverse skills and passions of our members. If you’re inspired to help shape the future of ISPA, I encourage you to submit a nomination form for the board or a committee position, which can be found in the last email you received regarding the AGM. Let’s make the next year even more impactful than the last.
Health Funds
In a significant stride for our association, I’m thrilled to announce that CBHS has now provided provider numbers to our clinical members, ensuring greater recognition and accessibility for those seeking the services of ISPA members. This will be rolled out to all financial practising members within the month, marking an exciting development in the acknowledgement of our profession. Rest assured, we are not resting on our laurels. The dialogue continues as we are actively in discussions with HBF and more health funds to extend these benefits, and will provide you with updates as they become available.
The expansion of our recognition is a testament to the quality of work each of you delivers in your daily practice and a reflection of the high standards we maintain as an organization. This momentum propels us forward, not just in advocacy but also in professional development.
Multichannel Eye Movement Integration Event
To that end, we have a fantastic event on the horizon, “Multichannel Eye Movement Integration: A New PTSD Treatment,” scheduled for November 15 from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. This innovative approach promises to be an invaluable addition to our therapeutic repertoire, particularly for those specializing in or interested in the treatment of PTSD. The session is designed to be an interactive exploration of an extremely relevant method that will assist with client outcomes. Do not miss the opportunity to be at the forefront of this emerging therapy.
As we prepare for our AGM and the upcoming professional development event, let’s also take a moment to reflect on our personal and collective journeys this year. What have we learned? How have we grown? And most importantly, how can we carry these insights forward to enrich our practice and the lives of those we serve?
ISPA remains committed to supporting each member’s growth, fostering a community of shared knowledge, and advocating for the recognition of the profound work we do. As the year races to a close, let’s continue to build on our successes and brace for a future ripe with opportunity.
Here’s to a season filled with warmth, growth, and continued professional excellence.
All the best,
Jonathan Smith
